New Club Championship Format

The 2006 club championship format is slightly different from last season, and there are significant changes in duration and integration with the Central Hockey League.

The club championship will have a minor premiership based on an 8 team round robin. This will be decided on points, and then the competition will split into a top 4 and bottom 4.

These will then play two rounds of round robin followed by a grand final for the club championship (top 4 competition), and a plate final for the bottom four competition.

The same structure applies in the women's competition.

The club championship will be completed by the second week in July, much earlier than previously.

The Central Hockey League will commence immediately after this, and the teams not competing in that competition will compete locally for the Newcastle and Mamahi Trophies.

These will be round robin competitions under normal 11-a-side hockey rules.
