| Taranaki versus Wairarapa 2-2 (half time 1-2) Taranaki Under 18 Men started their season off with a quadrangular tournament in Levin over the weekend of 28/29 April. Against Wairarapa Taranaki conceded two early goals, and this seemed the wake up call to motivate themselves and start dominating the game. With some great tackling and passing out of defence by Rakesh Desai and James Fastier Taranaki manged to claw one goal back by half time. The second half saw Taranaki play better hockey and James Linehan started making some great inroads through the Wairarapa defence and was finally rewarded with a well taken goal. Best KO of the day goes to Mark Greensill for taking on the Wairarapa goalie’s boot and losing.
Taranaki versus Wanganui 0-3 (half time 0-2) Taranaki were very flat after a 10pm finish on Saturday night. The team was disappointed in their general drop in skill and struggled to throw the appropriate passes when necessary. Aaron Edmunds played outstanding in defence while Thomas Ardern tried sparking the team into attack.
Taranaki versus Hawkes Bay 2-0 (half time 1-0) The third game of the tournament saw Taranaki play some great hockey, with the team working well together, shots were actually put at the goal and the team started believing in themselves. Everyone played well with Brett Thomas dominating through the middle of the field and again, Rakesh Desai making some great tackles and shutting down the Hawkes Bay attack.
The squad for National tournament (2-8 July 200 in Christchurch) will be named this week.
