| Under 15 Boys Hockey – Napier Tournament Our tournament in Napier was our first outing together and also the first time the boys had got together to play in a game situation. Our first game was against Wairapara who looked very strong when we watched there first game. Our boys started out strong and held off the boys for the first half of the half. Wairapara scored first and we fought back to level the score. The boys all played well together as a team and were very impressive and looked strong. We drew the game 1 all. On Sunday morning we had our first game at 8.30am and we went to pieces. We played Hawkes Bay who got 2 very quick goals in the first 5 minutes. Our boys were on the back foot there after. We had a few opportunities to score but could not finish and with poor marking on defence let Hawkes Bay put in another 3 goals. Our third game saw us playing Wanganui, Wanganui scored first and then we levelled the score. We went off the game plan again and the opposition scored twice more. We came back by scoring again but left things far too late to equalise the score. 2-3 to Wanganui. All in all, it was a good weekend, giving us the opportunity to see what needs to be worked on and the boys certainly know that they have to work harder at practice and fitness. Our next tournament is in Wanganui on the 9th and 10th June.
Players that did well in the weekend. Tim Phillips was my Player of the Tournament, followed by Byrnn Chadwick, Alex Sullivan-Brown and Anthony Bruce. Debbie Hartigan Coach for the Weekend
